So, there’s exactly one month now till the big Royal wedding where Kate and Wills will be getting married in front of the whole world (scary or what?!). There has been so much speculation covering this wedding since the couple got engaged but it’s now that details are starting to appear.
Around 2000 guests have been invited to the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, with the likes of Elton John and the Beckham’s been invited (apparently Victoria has been asked by David, not to out shine the Bride by wearing TWO dresses). Prince Harry has been given the honour of been Wills Best Man and Kate’s sister, has been chosen to be Kate’s Maid of Honour.
Everyone involved in the planning of the wedding are trying their hardest to keep the details of Kate’s dress a secret but that doesn’t stop it from been one of the most speculated aspects of the wedding. Designers who have been linked to designing what will more than likely be the most sought after dress of the year, include Phillipa Lepley, Bruce Oldfield and most recently, the creative director of Alexandra McQueen, Sarah Burton.
Top cake designer, Fiona Cairns, has been commissioned to design a dream wedding cake for the Royal couple. Fiona is said to be creating a multi-tiered fruit cake decorated with fresh fruit and flowers, which will have a floral theme to include the symbols of the four British nations – an English rose, a Scottish thistle, a Welsh daffodil and an Irish shamrock. The Royals have also asked biscuit brand McVitie’s to make a second cake, one of Wills favourites, a Chocolate Biscuit cake, it is rumoured that it will use a massive 1700 biscuits and nearly 40lb of chocolate to make! I hope the guests are all leaving plenty of room for dessert and aren’t wearing bone corsets!!
If you fancy having a Royal wedding cake, Fiona’s ready-made cakes can also be purchased from Waitrose.
So throughout the rest of the month, on the build up to the day I’ll be looking at Royal wedding inspiration and also looking at ways in which to celebrate the Royal wedding in style, so keep your eyes peeled!
